Traffic sucks.
I have a general code that I have chosen to implement into my life: Be kind, and find the good in any situation, no matter how difficult.
As I sat through three hours of traffic, here’s what I learned:
1.) Merging cars are going to end up in your lane anyways. Accept it, let them in, and move on.

2.) Getting cut off by school buses is a thing in Southern California, especially when there doesn’t appear to be a lane where they’re driving. Just go with it.

3.) I wasn’t the only one participating in Carpool Karaoke. The car in front of me was crushing it to Journey - air guitar solo and all. No shame.

4.) It’s easy to forget that there are hundreds of people around you that are in the exact same spot as you.

5.) Those hundreds of people are probably just as frustrated as I am now.

6.) “OMG, I don’t have to pee!” is one of the best moments in life when you realize you just passed the last gas station/exit for the next 15 miles.

7.) An average of 4 mph is better than 0 mph. Count your blessings.

8.) There are two types of vehicles in intense traffic. First: the sports car/truck. They won’t let you merge into their lane - ever - so don’t even try. Second: Everybody else. For the most part, if you have your blinker on (yes - I know it’s a “turn signal,” but blinker is more fun), someone will be nice enough to let you in.

9.) Trying to find things to be positive about (once I got tired of singing my heart out to The Greatest Showman and Mamma Mia!) was really, really hard.

10.) The feeling I had when I stepped out of the car after being in traffic for three hours…my derrière never felt so good.
